Wolfgang Van Halen lança terceiro single do álbum ‘Mammoth II’; ouça “Take A Bow

Wolfgang Van Halen lançou na última terça-feira, 27, “Take A Bow”, novo single do projeto solo Mammoth WVH.

Anteriormente, o artista divulgou os singles “Another Celebration at the End of the World” e “Like A Pastime”.

OUTLAW – REACHING BEYOND ASSIAH

Outlaw sounds like a name befitting of a ‘70s influenced trad metal band, but alas this is melodic black metal formed in Brazil. Reaching Beyond Assiah is the trio’s third full-length and first under AOP Records.

Outlaw will definitely remind of Watain and Dissection, but they attack with a mid-paced force while building up a sinister atmosphere. Opener “Bliss Of Soul” is like being sucked into a black hole with a spectral, menacing mid-paced effort with a hopeless atmosphere. The trio doesn’t back down from long songs – six of the seven cuts are at least 6 minutes making for a runtime of almost 45 minutes and for the most part it works – “To Burn This World And Dissolve The Flesh” moves through different tempos with screeching solos and slight violin work in the mid-section, but it cranks best in the beginning and end with a sturdy groove resembling trad metal.

“Beyond The Realms Of God” roars with furious energy after a 2 minute build up and stands out amongst the seven cuts as does the ripping “Everything That Becomes Nothing” is the shortest shot at 4:35 and an album like this could have used some more burners. Outlaw loves to utilize blastbeats and kick drumming to accentuate the spacey, cosmic environment the guitars employ – getting lost in a mid-paced wickedness – which is all well and good, but grows weary when overused. Convincing speed to offset the rumbling, stalking broodiness would work wonders to Reaching Beyond Assiah.

BURNING WITCHES – A LITTLE DESTRUCTION AMONG FRIENDS

This is one of those interviews that was held up due to the band in question having an engagement far more important than yet another press monkey asking a predictable slew of questions. Gearing up for the May 2023 release of their new album, The Dark Tower, Swiss metalheads Burning Witches took time out from the promo junket to take part in the Monsters Of Rock Cruise 2023. The six-day cruise offered Burning Witches the chance to not only perform to an international audience in close quarters, but also for many of their peers. With some unexpected results...

"The Monsters Of Rock Cruise was very cool with great people," says founding drummer Lala Frischknecht. "They treated us very well, and it was the first time we had this type of long cruise, going to the Dominican Republic and Haiti. We had shows, tutorials, interviews, everybody got sunburned... it was great (laughs). We played on opening day, and we closed the cruise. We had a great time."

"We actually had some help from Queensrÿche, because they were at our first show. They said it was sad that we were playing the small stage because the sound wasn't very good. So, they let us borrow their mixer and their lighting guy for our second show. They are friends of Courtney (Cox / The Iron Maidens guitarist - standing in for Larissa Ersnt, who is on maternity leave) and just let us have their guys for free; we were so shocked and so grateful. The whole experience was just unbelievable because we are sort of a new band, and we had all these bigger bands - like the guys from Queensrÿche and Winger - watching us. It gave us a huge rush of energy."

KK’S PRIEST: SINGLE “ONE MORE SHOT AT GLORY” ANUNCIA SEGUNDO ÁLBUM PARA SETEMBRO

MOURNFUL CONGREGATION – THE EXUVIAE OF GODS – PART II

We gave Mournful Congregation's The Exuviae Of Gods – Part I EP a glowing 8/10 review back in August, and now the Australian funeral doom party-ruiners are back with its follow-up, three more songs of unbearably and unbelievably heavy doom.

I mean, check out stunning opener “Heads Bowed” for a look at how regal and stately doom can also be mind-numbingly heavy (the song is a re-recorded version of an old demo tune, proving this band knew what they were doing from an early age). It's a 12:25 opener that drips and oozes great, mournful melodies but never sacrifices heaviness, just like how the old masters did. It's an amazing, masterful journey of a song, and so is “The Forbidden Abysm”, which hits a bit leaner and meaner at 8:47, and has a glorious guitar solo tucked away under all the doom, to boot.

Huge, 18:39 closer “The Paling Crest” starts acoustic and wistful, first-album Cathedral vibes heavy, and when everything comes crashing in, man, this could move mountains; when they bring it down again during this huge song, they create a very moving, delicate sound. When this climaxes and slogs through its conclusion, wow, this is cinematic, this is massive, this is powerful. Also: this is songwritin
